Michael Maguire Unveils 19-Man Squad for Accor Stadium Clash

Tom Trbojevic to Lead the Charge as Most Capped Player

Westpac NSW Blues coach Michael Maguire has named six debutants for the opening game of the Ampol State of Origin series at Accor Stadium on Wednesday, July 5.

Sydney Roosters winger Joseph Suaalii, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs forward Max King, and South Sydney Rabbitohs prop Keaon Kolomatangi will make their Blues debuts in the series opener.

They are joined by Penrith Panthers duo Spencer Leniu and Stephen Crichton, and Newcastle Knights forward Tyson Frizell, who all receive their first call-ups to the NSW Origin squad.

Tom Trbojevic will lead the Blues into battle as the most capped player in the squad with 16 appearances to his name. The Manly Sea Eagles fullback made his Origin debut in 2017 and has been a mainstay in the side ever since.

Also known as the Blues due to their sky blue jerseys, the NSW Blues are looking to reclaim the State of Origin shield after losing the series to Queensland in 2022.

The Maroons have won the past three series and are looking to make it four in a row. However, the Blues will be confident of their chances with a strong squad that includes a mix of experience and youth.
